We place great importance on the relationship that is forged between your child
and our tutor, and take pride in being able to match a tutor to a family;
students flourish with individual attention and grow in confidence as they
tackle material planned specifically for them.
We currently have around 175 tutors on our books. Most of them are recent
graduates with a wide range of skills and interests that encompass passions
such as sport, music, theatre and travel. Some tutors are Masters and PhD
students; some are writers, freelance journalists and actors; others combine
their tutoring with part-time work. One thing that does unite them is their
passion for education and their desire to use their knowledge and experience to
support and spur on the students they work with.
We do not require tutors to have previous tutoring experience when they apply.
We look for energy, spark, confidence in their subject and the ability to
communicate and inspire. We consider that our experience in the tutoring world
enables us to spot a tutor's potential.
Parents often ask us if we perform background checks our tutors and our answer
is a resounding yes. We obtain two references for each tutor – normally one
academic and one professional – and each tutor applies for the Enhanced
Disclosure through us (we are a Registered Body with the Criminal Records
Bureau). Many new tutors contact us on the recommendation of our current tutors
and it is reassuring for us to know that these applicants are 'known' from the
start.
